You might have the most incredible product or service to sell, but if people don't know about it you won't succeed. Advertising and marketing are all about creating a buzz about your product. You want people talking about what you are selling.
Always keep your target customers in mind and don't forget the market research you've already done.
- What did you learn about customers during that research?
- Do you know how they find out about products and services?
Advertising is a part of the mix, but when working with a small budget free publicity is great! Create press releases and send them to local and national media. You may get lucky and someone will write a newspaper article or talk about you on the radio.
Don't forget you need to make sure your marketing is working.
- Include discount coupons in flyers. More coupons returned = more success.
- Offer a discount for mentioning your radio ad. More mentions = more success.
- Use customer surveys that ask those who call or visit your store how they heard of you. Again, more mentions = more success.
Once you know what methods are getting the most response, you'll know how to
spend your money. You can read about putting together your marketing plan.
